  • Be Aware: Criminals are always searching for ways to take advantage of us. Coronavirus (COVID19) has affected us all. We are outside of normal practices and criminals are seeing this as an easy way to scam unsuspecting persons.

  • Be Cautious: Millennial Bank and our Government Agencies will never text you for your personal information. We will not ask for your username or password. We will not provide links in a text message or email for you to click on to obtain any information regarding COVID19 Stimulus or news updates. According to the Cyber Infrastructure website bulletin, examples of phishing email subject lines include:

    • 2020 Coronavirus updates,

    • Coronavirus Updates,

    • 2019-nCov: New Confirmed cases in your City, and

    • 2019nCov: Coronavirus outbreak in your city (Emergency)

    • SMS Phishing (Text message) Example:

    • URGENT: IRS has issued a payment of $$ to all residents as a part of its promise or stimulus package to battle COVID19. Click here (fraudulent website) to apply

  • Tell Others: Share with your family and friends regarding the heightened risk for potential scammers. You may help prevent others from being scammed as well.

Phishing – the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers. They can even allow the download of malware onto your device.

SMS Phishing or Smishing – similar to emails, SMS phishing or smishing is the practice of sending text messages to your mobile devices purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce the revelation of personal information. They can even allow the download of malware onto your device.

Malware – Malicious software variants, including viruses, ransomware and spyware. Malware typically consists of code developed by cyberattackers, designed to cause extensive damage to data and systems to gain unauthorized access to a network.
